TBA Studios brings 'Past Lives' to the PH this August
Celine Song's romantic drama is coming to PH theaters — finally— in August 30th.
Finally. Celine Song's film, Past Lives, arrives to the Philippines. The film hits local theaters August 30, 2023.
After making instant splashes during its fest circuit, the film captured film lovers' attention after A24 dropped the first teaser for the film. Now, TBA Studios — the same film production and distribution company that brought Triangle of Sadness to our shores — is bringing the film to Philippine theaters.
TBA confirms it with this Facebook post, calling on its patrons to save August 30th as the date that Past Lives arrives. No one knows how limited this release will be, though: Will it have a proper run at mall cinemas or will it be exclusive to TBA's own microcinema, Cinema '76? Nonetheless, those who have been meaning to catch the film in theaters can now get the chance.
Directed by Celine Song, the film follows Nora (Greta Lee) as she reconnects with her childhood friend, Hae Sung (Teo Yoo) and is forced to confront fate, life, and the decisions that once kept them apart and ones that eventually reunited them.
The film is getting much love from critics who tout this "wise, wistful film" to be "a marvel, cemented in a rare balance of wit and grief" and one that "expands the emotional scope of what a love story can be."
