PELÍCULA>PELIKULA returns for its 23rd year in Manila
Catch FREE screenings of acclaimed Spanish films this October 5–13, 2024.
BACK FOR ITS TWENTY-THIRD edition, Cultura Instituto Cervantes de Manila’s perennial showcase of acclaimed Spanish films, PELÍCULA>PELIKULA, puts together a dynamic film program which Filipino patrons can enjoy for free.
The festival happens from October 5th to 13th.
Per usual, this year’s Spanish Film Festival screens award-winning titles, including Victor Erice’s first film in decades, Close Your Eyes, which premiered at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, and Dani de la Orden’s supremely watchable dark comedy, A House on Fire. PELÍCULA also added incredible animations and docus in the program, including Pablo Berger’s Robot Dreams and Luis Roca’s Benito Pérez Buñuel.
In addition to the fest’s Official Selection, the fest will also screen filmed theater productions under the ‘Creadores Teatrales’ section. And a quartet of short films under the ‘En corto’ section, which includes Filipino short films, Primetime Mother (dir. Sonny Calvento) and Transients (dir. Kyla Danelle Romero).
