Love unravels under financial stress in 'Third World Romance' trailer
The new film, directed by Dwein Baltazar, opens in theaters on August 16, 2023.
"Pangakong sisikapin naming maging masaya."
Adding to the tapestry of local romantic films that take the economics of love affairs into account, Dwein Baltazar's new film, Third World Romance, offers a peek into a romance between two minimum wage-earners, Britney and Alvin, as they try to navigate the socio-economically punishing realities of the country they're living in.
Black Sheep has dropped the first trailer, and the caliber of talent involved alone (both in front and behind the camera) compels one to seek it out in theaters. Baltazar, of course, directed well-beloved films, Gusto Kita With All My Hypothalamus and Oda Sa Wala. While Carlo Aquino and Charlie Dizon's recent film outings include Isa Pa With Feelings and Fan Girl, respectively.
Third World Romance is co-written by Baltazar and Jericho Aguado. It hits Philippine theaters this August 16, 2023, right after this year's run of the Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival.
