Timothée Chalamet enchants in the first trailer for 'Wonka'
In theaters next year, the new film from Paul King invites you to a world of pure imagination.
"A double huh."
The first trailer for Wonka, a prequel to Roald Dahl's novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, has dropped. It's directed by Paul King, who ardent cinephiles will know from his — and I say this without a lick of irony or sarcasm — distinguished work with the Paddington films.
Any previous reservation about Timothée Chalamet's take on the fantastical chocolatier, too, should be lost: If we go by the selected moments featured in this initial trailer, it looks like Timmy has this one in the bag.
Warner Bros. also shared a vibrant one-sheet for the film, which you can check out right after the bump.
Wonka opens in U.S. theaters on December 15th, 2023. For us here in the Philippines, the film will open on January 8th, a few weeks late, to give way for the upcoming 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival.
